The Baluchon Ecology-Outdoors Concept was established October 26, 1982 by seven adventure-seeking, nature-loving students, Louis Lessard, a biology student, and Yves Savard, a graphic student. With this initiative behind it, Le Baluchon really got going in December 1982, when Hydro-Quebec ceded it the commercial rights to the old Damphousse Mill. In the meantime, Le Baluchon saw the arrival of three other individuals who were to play an important role in the development of this exceptional resort, Ms. Céline Lessard, Mr. Gilles Lessard and Mr. Jean Marc Gauthier.
During the following months Le Baluchon Corporation confidently built up its reputation, successively obtaining the commercial rights to the Magnan Falls, Trembles Falls, Damphousse Falls as well as those on the Sabot de la Vierge Archipelago.
With considerable public support exceeding all expectations the corporation came up with the idea of establishing a multi-purpose tourist resort on its site.
